 Awards Ceremony December 5, 2011 

At this event retired Middletown Police Detective William Swierk and retired Middletown Lieutenant Kelly Mitchell were honored for their years of service.

Seven new recruits were sworn in as probationary patrol officers.  This was the largest group of officers to be sworn in the history of the Middletown Police Department.

Patrol Officer Timothy Beck was promoted to the rank of Detective. He serves as the Juvenile Detective for the police department.

Lt. Robert S. Nutt was recognized with for his recent graduation from the FBI National Academy. The FBINA is a 10 week course of study at the FBI Academy located in Quantico, Virginia.

Deputy Chief Terry W. Hazel accepted a MPD Unit Citation Award for several officers, who assisted in the investigation of the murder in March, 2011.

Sgt. Michael Faria, Detective Timothy Beck and Patrol Officer Christopher Rosa were awarded life saving medals for their use of first aid skills to help save the lives of two heart attack victims in two separate incidents.  Middletown Fire Fighters, along with an off-duty Jamestown EMT, Deborah Seitz, were also recognized with certificates for their assistance.

Detective Walter Mey was awarded the MPD Meritorious Service Medal for his apprehension of the murder suspect in March, 2010.
