Citizens Police Academy

Citizens Police Academy has been postponed until further notice. 

We will continue to accept ONLINE applications ONLY.  Please do not come to the station to either get or drop off an application.

The Middletown Police Department will be hosting a Citizens Police Academy beginning on Monday March 30, 2020 through Monday May 18, 2020. This eight-week program will be hosted from 6-8PM inside the Community Room located in the front lobby of the Middletown Police Department.


This will be an opportunity for residents to get to know their police department and its personnel better, while also learning about the daily operations, divisions, and vast amount of services that the department provides to the Town of Middletown and the State of Rhode Island.


The training sessions will consist of classroom instruction, demonstrations, and hands on application of police duties. Topics that will be covered include; Patrol Ride Alongs, Traffic Enforcement, Crime Scene Investigation, K-9 Unit, Defensive Tactics, Firearms Simulation Machine, Accident Reconstruction, and presentations by department members assigned to the US Marshals Office and RI State Police High Intensity Drug Task Force.


Applicants must be a Middletown resident and be at least 18 years old. There will be a background check performed on applicants. Anyone with a conviction or pending charge involving a Misdemeanor of Felony Crime is prohibited from attending.


Applications are available and located in the front lobby of the Middletown Police Department and on the Town of Middletown Website. Applications must be completed and turned in no later than Friday March 13, 2020.
