Agency Profile

The Middletown Police Department is a full-service police agency, which provides law enforcement services 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Patrol coverage is provided through the use of two platoons that work 12 hours shifts. Each platoon is comprised of two squads that provided relief for each other. The town is divided into three patrol districts.

The department is divided into two major components, an operations division and an administrative services division. The Operations Division is comprised of the four patrol squads and the Investigations Unit. The four squads and detectives are supervised by a lieutenant. Additional supervision is provided to each patrol team through the assignment of a sergeant.

The Administrative Services Division is supervised by a lieutenant and is comprised of the following: Records, Accreditation, Community Policing and School Resource Officers, Animal Control, VIN Inspector, Facilities Management, and Mechanic.

The total authorized compliment for the Middletown Police Department is 40 sworn officers supported by four full time and two part time civilians.
